Quality

Construction quality control: plans, checklists, inspections, defects, NCR and work acceptance

A quality control app (QA/QC) for construction sites. The site quality plan: sections, stages, types of work, control points, mandatory inspections, owners, requirements, documents and acceptance criteria.

Overview

Quality: what it does and how it works

A quality control app (QA/QC) for construction sites. The site quality plan: sections, stages, types of work, control points, mandatory inspections, owners, requirements, documents and acceptance criteria. Configurable checklists with mandatory items, photos and comments; an item’s result is conforming, non-conforming, not applicable or needs review. Inspections with a number, an inspector, a time (the event lands in the company calendar), conducted from a phone, with a decision: accept, reject or request a fix; a re-inspection is a new inspection linked to the previous one.

An inspection can’t be completed without a required photo or comment — the server enforces this. A passed inspection accepts the quantity of work, and a rejected quantity goes to “not accepted” with a reason; work that requires inspection won’t be fully accepted until there’s a passed inspection. Defects with severity, category, owner, deadline, photos, a link to a drawing sheet and a point; a contractor takes a defect on and marks it “Ready for review” with a photo, the inspector closes it — it doesn’t close itself when the task is done, and for critical ones you can require a re-inspection. Non-conformances (NCR) with a cause, consequences, a corrective action, a fix, a re-inspection and closure; the original description is never erased.

A stage won’t close while there are open critical defects, failed inspections and open NCRs. A contractor sees only their own organization’s inspections and defects and responds to them. What it doesn’t have: legal compliance of certificate and log forms with a specific country’s standards, work without a network (a draft defect is kept in the browser until it’s sent) and automatic quality checks from photos.
