Construction Documents: what it does and how it works

Not a folder of files, but document control for a construction site. Register: a number by the site’s rule, a type from a configurable list (contract, estimate, certificate, as-built, design, terms of reference, log, report, certificate of conformity, equipment passport, instruction, protocol, contractor documents, quality documents, handover documents), section, author, owner, assignee, validity period, links to work, stages, organizations, other documents and drawings. Folders as a tree: rename and move without losing versions; an empty folder can be deleted, a non-empty one can’t. Versions and revisions: a new version always needs a reason, the old one is kept and can be opened; an approved or issued document is never overwritten — only replaced by a new version, which goes through approval again.

Approval: sequential, parallel or in steps, comments, a request for corrections, rejection with a reason, resubmission, an approval deadline, a task for the approver in Tasks. Every document has its own access: all participants, selected roles, selected organizations, or only the author and approvers; a contractor sees only issued documents assigned to their organization and never internal ones. Acknowledgment by people, roles and organizations per version: who opened it, who signed off and with what comment; a new version requires a new acknowledgment. It’s an acknowledgment mark, not an electronic signature, and the app makes no claim that document flow complies with your country’s laws.

A Business Office document can be attached by link, without copying. What it doesn’t do: recognize file contents, electronic signatures, offline sync.
