University: what it does and how it works

University runs the academic side of higher and professional education on the shared education core — the same one that Student Passport, School and Courses run on. Faculties, institutes and departments; degree programs and majors with level, qualification and form of study; subjects and curricula by semester with credits and hours of lectures, practicals and labs; academic years and semesters with closing; years, cohorts, academic groups and subgroups; teachers, curators and teaching load with actuals for classes held; schedule by group, teacher and classroom — conflicts are checked and explained; attendance; exam and credit sheets with admission, no-show, closing and correction only with a reason; retakes for students in arrears with a commission; performance, arrears and an individual plan with credit transfer; an admissions committee with applications from CRM — a person is found through the contacts book, and a suspected duplicate goes to review, with no merging on its own; orders — academic leave, expulsion, reinstatement, transfer with history preserved; student requests; internships and theses; graduation with a rules check, a diploma with a verification code and a transcript; tuition charges through Invoices and Payments, scholarships; analytics of performance, workload and student movement. Students and teachers see their own data in Student Passport. Scales, the number of retakes, credits, types of leave, graduation requirements and scholarships are the university's settings, not law in code: different universities and countries have different rules.
